Gonorrhea question

My "friend" of 5 years gave me gonorrhea. He swears he has not had unprotected sex with anyone else and says he must have gotten it from borrowing a pair of damp/used gym shorts. Is that possible? Or is he just lying to me?

Frankly, his explanation requires a leap of faith. It may be possible to get gonorrhea this way. Here is the quote from the CDC on transmission:"Gonorrhea is spread through contact with the penis, vagina, mouth, or anus. Ejaculation does not have to occur for gonorrhea to be transmitted or acquired."
Since gonorrhea is a bacterium that thrives inside the urethra and is normally transmitted by sex, his explanation is suspect, but perhaps possible, judging by the above quote. You will have to decide.
