Tight foreskinPosted by M. on June 14, 2008 at 06:25:35:
Hi there,
I recently got into a relationship and had intercourse for the first time. My partner and I have figured out that I have a problem with having a tight foreskin. It's making full penetration almost impossible because it hurts me to push fully in. Luckily she says she's getting lots of stimulation from partial penetration, but I'd love to stick it all the way in. Also I tend to lose my erection quickly when I feel the pain of the foreskin stretching beyond it's range. I am able to find a good balance and have lots of fun. In this way it's not a big problem for now. But going forward I'd like to try and fix this because our intercourse is being definitely impeded by this and I'm conscious of it constantly. Also, if I have want to have kids, I want to make sure I can physically impregnate their mother.
I've read online about some stretching exercises, which I'm trying, but no luck yet. And also I've read about some many having a too short Frenulum (which is the little piece of skin that attaches the foreskin to the head). Many say circumcision is a solution, but I'd like to avoid taking a knife to my willy. And many people warn that GPs will often just advise to have circumcision. Has Sue covered this topic ever on the show or in writing anywhere?
Thanks,

It's called Phimosis and yes we've covered it many times. Since I had the same problem myself, I am well-acquainted with it. There are two routes you can go: the quick solution is to ask your doctor about a Dorsal slit. This procedure involves cutting a small, V-shaped notch in the rim of the foreskin and is done in the doctor's office. It loosens the rim and allows the foreskin to retract more easily. Recovery time is a couple of weeks. The natural, albeit long, method is to work at it yourself. You retract the foreskin before getting an erection, and masturbate regularly with the foreskin back. This can be painful initially, so only pull it back as far as is comfortable. Eventually, it stretches and rolls back with ease. That's the method I used and it certainly worked, but it took about a year. So, you decide.
